Happy Mother’s Day – DIY: Crepe Paper Magnolia Branch

Happy Mother’s Day! Today I wanted to share a branch of crepe paper magnolia flowers that I made for my mom for mother’s day. I love you mom!

To make the flowers and bud, I followed the directions in this Martha Stewart video with a few modifications.

DIY: Potted Paper Orchid

As you may have noticed, I’m a bit obsessed with paper flowers. While I love real flowers, they aren’t always practical as they are prone to wilting and can be expensive.

Even potted orchids, which are among my favorite house plants, eventually fade. A couple of years ago when a bloom fell off one of my orchids I used the fallen blossom to create a template to make coffee filter orchids.

Today’s project uses that same template, but replaces the coffee filters with double sided crepe paper.

DIY Christmas Ornaments: Plastic Utensil Snowflakes

Hi, I hope that everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving this past week had a wonderful holiday! I had a fun holiday spending time with family and cooking up a storm in the Atlanta area. My husband was in charge of making macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and stuffing and I was responsible for red velvet cupcakes, sweet potato dinner rolls, and sweet potato cinnamon breakfast rolls (for the morning after Thanksgiving). We also helped my father-in-law brine a turkey. The turkey ended up being the one of the best turkeys that I have ever had, which is saying a lot because I generally dislike turkey and fill up on sides on Thanksgiving.

Although I have been posting Christmas ornaments and crafts for a couple of weeks now, now that Thanksgiving is over I am in full Christmas craft mode! Today I am excited to be visiting Allison at A Glimpse Inside Blog.

I hope that you’ll stop by Allison’s blog to see how I transformed silver colored plastic utensils from Thanksgiving dinner into snowflake Christmas tree ornaments.

I hope you’ll come back next week to see what I have been working on.

Chalk Board – Take Two

Last summer I shared a DIY chalkboard that I created from a thrift store frame and piece of hardboard. I liked that project, but the chalkboard was a bit small for the wall I wanted it for so I’ve been on the lookout for a larger frame. I found the perfect frame at a thrift store: It was the size I was looking for, inexpensive, and didn’t even need painting!
